Talking to RIA Novosti, people at the Music House's press center noted that Spivakov's orchestra will play Mozart's overture to the opera "La Clemenza Di Tito" ("The Clemency Of Titus"), the first cello concert with the Shostakovich orchestra, as well as Gustav Mahler's first symphony.
This program is devoted to the 90-th birth anniversary of outstanding Russian orchestra conductor Kirill Kondrashin; Vladimir Spivakov had performed in Kondrashin's orchestra at the beginning of his music career.
The maestro invited young cellist Tatiana Vasilyeva, who is quite popular all over Europe, to play solo. Vasilyeva, who graduated from the Moscow conservatoire's central music school, has already won six major international cello-music contests. Among other things, she has received the Grand Prix of the Mstislav Rostropovich contest in Paris. Vasilyeva performs together with such famed musicians as Rostropovich, Kremer, Bashmet and Kisin.
Tatiana Vasilyeva plays a unique Stradivarius cello, which was made in 1725.
The International House of Music will offer 12 programs, i.e. symphony and chamber-music concerts, several jazz performances, as well as a number of concerts for children, during the new concert season.
The administration of the International House of Music plans to organize an international festival dealing with Brahms and his music, as well as the first-ever international organ-music festival.
A large concert organ was installed at the Music House's Svetlanov hall this past September. This 84-register organ, which was manufactured and assembled by leading German companies, is Russia's largest. The organ will be unveiled in an impressive setting this December.
