Lifting the embargo will be prominent on the agenda of Mr. Alencar's official visit to Russia due to start on October 11, Brazil's official information agency RadioBraz reported.
The aim of the visit is to enhance trade and political relations between the two countries, Brazil's Foreign Ministry noted.
The Brazilian party is going to suggest that Russia should determine meat purchase quotas and refuse the so-called "rules of origin" factor, Executive Secretary of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade Marcio Fortes said.
The factor, which fixes favorable quotas for the U.S. and Western Europe, is disadvantageous for Brazil, restricting its access to the Russian market, Mr. Fortes specified pointing out that Brazil is seeking equality.
"Russia's joining the WTO is crucial and must set the tune of further talks. However, we would like the stand on Brazil to be more favorable," the official remarked.
Brazil also intends to increase exports of other traditional commodities, such as sugar, tobacco and coffee, to Russia and provide new products, for example software for the banking system, indispensable for the Russian financial system.
"We are mutually interested partners," the executive secretary stressed.
Bilateral commodity turnover reached $1.2 bln in January-July, Russian exports accounting for one third, the Brazilian government officially reports.
According to Brazil's Foreign Ministry, while in Moscow Jose Alencar will head a delegation at the 3rd session of the bilateral mixed commission. On Monday he will hold talks in the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, meet Russian entrepreneurs and visit Zvyozdny Gorodok.
On Tuesday the Brazilian Vice President is to meet Russian Vice Premier Boris Alyoshin, who is heading the Russian part of the bilateral mixed commission.
Jose Alencar's official visit to Russia will be completed by his arrival in St. Petersburg, where he will meet with representatives of the City Hall and business circles and see the sights of the northern capital.
