MOSCOW, October 13 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has made no comments on information that Chechen terrorists entered the United States through Mexico, a Foreign Intelligence Service spokesman said.
On Wednesday, The Washington Times reported that in July 2004, 25 Chechen terrorists carrying backpacks secretly crossed into Arizona, US, from Mexico. Well-known American journalist Bill Gertz reported that he received this information from sources who are familiar with the intelligence about the Chechen terrorists entering the US.
However, according to Mr. Gertz himself, the US authorities are currently investigating the information.
"A spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed that the intelligence report was provided by another government agency, but said Border Patrol agents were unable to verify its accuracy," the newspaper reported
