"The Azov large landing ship left the main base of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, Sevastopol, to pay a friendly visit to the Greek Republic from October 19 to 31, flying the flag of deputy commander of the surface ships formation of the Black Sea Fleet Captain 1st rank Oleg Garamov," the press service reported.
As the report reads, in the port of Nilos the Russian ship will participate in the festive activities to mark an anniversary of the Navarino battle. Ships of the Black Sea Fleet traditionally participate in the Greek national holiday. "The only exception from this rule was made in 2000 in connection with the tragic events in the Barents Sea, namely the loss of the Russian nuclear submarine Kursk," the press service reports.
As the report says, during the business call at Piraeus port the navy men from Russia will lay wreaths at the monument to the Unknown Soldier's monument in Athens, visit the cemetery of Russian sailors, and meet with representatives of the civil and military authorities and with the Greek public.

The ship is carrying the St. Andrew's Flag artistic company of the Officers' House of Russia's Black Sea Fleet and the orchestra of the staff of the Black Sea Fleet which will give concerts in the ports of call.
