RUSSIAN FOOTBALL BOSS UNDER ARREST? RIGHT, SAY TOP PROSECUTOR'S MEN

MOSCOW, October 20 (RIA Novosti) - Tatevos Surinov, Director General of the Russian Football Top League, has been arrested and indicted, says a rumour that has shocked fans. The top prosecutor's officers confirm sensational media reports.

"Tatevos Surinov is really in custody, and has been indicted for a big swindle-Criminal Code Clause 159, Item 4," a spokeswoman of the federal Prosecutor General's Information and Public Relations Board, said to Novosti.

The suspicions do not concern Surinov's league work. He and his several accomplices are accused of stealing aviation equipment in Tatarstan on the Volga, added our informant.

Contrasting information came from the league. Its boss is merely ill, Georgi Cherdantsev, the press attache, assumed, Tuesday.

"Our Director General is ill and so out of his office. I hope he will be back quite soon," Cherdantsev said to Novosti on the phone.
