MOSCOW, October 22, (RIA Novosti) - Vladimir Putin hopes that an international conference on the struggle against terrorism, scheduled for the beginning of February in Riyadh, will reinforce the anti-terrorist coalition, the Kremlin's press-service reported.

The Russian president sent a reply message to the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud.

The message says in particular:

"I appreciate your message of September 10, 2004 concerning Saudi Arabia's initiative to hold an international conference on the struggle against terrorism early in February 2005 in Riyadh. I consider that the idea of calling a representative forum with a view to strengthening mechanisms of counteraction to new challenges and threats, and above all to such a universal evil as international terrorism, is very topical and deserving support.

"Recent events in Russia and Saudi Arabia have again demonstrated that the terrorist threat is global in character, and we can cope with this dangerous phenomenon only by pooling our efforts and acting in a consolidated fashion. For this reason Russia attaches primary significance to the task of reinforcing the anti-terrorist coalition and making its actions more effective. I am confident that the holding of a conference in Riyadh will serve this purpose."
