GROZNY, October 26. (RIA Novosti) - Two members of Rapani Khalilov's gang hiding in the Nozhai-Yurt district have surrendered in Chechnya, RIA Novosti learned on Tuesday from a spokesman of the regional headquarters supervising the anti-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.

The militants also gave up two Kalashnikovs, ammunition and three grenades, he said. "At preliminary interrogation they said they had left the gang leader because they did not want to carry out terrorist attacks against civilians, especially against children," the agency's interlocutor said.

Separatist leaders are still working out plans of especially brutal terrorist attacks, they said.

'They say that Aslan Maskhadov and Shamil Basayev demand that militants should be selected to take part in new terrorist attacks," the spokesman said.

In this connection, many ordinary militants, fearing for their lives, jump at any opportunity to flee and escape being placed on the suicide bombers' lists, he pointed out.
