Only 10% of the respondents are covered by the popular types of voluntary insurance and only 17% have the obligatory car insurance. 30% clients of insurance companies are not satisfied with the quality of their services; the highest level of dissatisfaction (89%) is registered in the sphere of foreign travel, and the figures for property insurance is 67%, for car insurance 55%, and for obligatory car insurance, 47%.
The main reasons for the low number of insurance clients in Russia is mistrust in insurance companies, high costs, and the absence of impetus for insurance. Besides, the respondents doubt that insurance companies would pay them in case of insured accidents.
Car insurance clients are mostly men, and the bulk of clients of other types of insurance are women. Taking into account the high level of car insurance incidence, men make up the bulk of insurance clients in Russia.
The average insurance client is a man aged 25-40, a specialist or a boss who lives in Moscow or St Petersburg, has a higher education and an optimistic view of life. He mostly fears theft, loss of health, terrorist acts, and financial liability for doing damage to third parties.
