MILITANTS SET OFF TWO CAR BOMBS IN GROZNY

GROZNY, October 31 (RIA Novosti) - Militants set off two car bombs in Grozny on Sunday.

A VAZ-21099 exploded at 7:40 a.m. Moscow time in the center of Grozny on Staropromyslovsky road.

According to preliminary data reported by the representative of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Operational Headquarters (ROH), one was killed and three injured. An on-site investigation is under way.

At 8:00 a.m. Moscow time, militants set off a bomb in a VAZ-2106 near Grozny's city hospital No. 9. There are some casualties there, as well, reported ROH representative Ilya Shabalkin.

According to recent information, 5 people were wounded as a result of the second explosion. No deaths were reported.

The ROH representative underlined that city hospital No. 9 was targeted by militants several times during the last month and a half. In particular, militants set off a bomb and shot at law enforcement officers guarding the hospital.

According to ROH data, the current terrorist act has been conducted under direct orders from militants' leaders Aslan Maskhadov and Shamil Basayev, said the ROH representative.
