During the first ten-minute flight, the Russian pilot made several stunts.
Vadim Razumovsky, Deputy General Director of the Sukhoi aircraft maker, said it was the first time the Russian best fighter's export version was demonstrated abroad.
"It is no secret that Sukhoi's major business interests lie with Southeast Asia and the Far East. Therefore, it was not fortuitous that the SU-27SKM made its first demonstration flight at the show in Zhuhai," said Alexander Klementyev, Sukhoi Deputy General Director for marketing.
Mr Klementyev said the fighter was first shown at the Dubai airspace show last December. However, it was not ready for sales at the time. At the Zhuhai show the aircraft is featuring as a complete commercial product.
The Sukhoi executives denied comments on the company's plans with respect to China. However, over 300 Sukhoi-made fighters, above all SU-27K and Su-30SKM fighters are known to be in use in China's Armed Forces today.
Sukhoi is expected to open its representation in Beijing shortly, according to Mr Klementyev.
The company also intends to open offices in New Delhi and further on in a number of other capitals of Southeast Asia, according to Mr Klementyev.
"Today we pin much hope for further cooperation with Indonesia that bought two SU-27SK fighters and two SU-30MSK fighters from us last year," said Mr Klementyev.
Foreign experts taking part in the show agree that the SU-27SKM is a major sensation at the Zhuhai air show.
