MOSCOW, November 1 (RIA Novosti) - In the Air Force they have told the details of the death of the deputy commander of the 37th Air Army of the Supreme Strategic Command, Major-General Konstantin Dementyev, who was shot dead on Sunday night.
As chief of the press service of Russia's Air Force Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky told RIA Novosti, the Zhiguli car carrying General Dementyev, the driver and one more passenger was fired at with a Kalashnikov submachine-gun on the 423rd kilometer of the Moscow-Minsk highway.
The General was returning from his leave.
According to preliminary information, unknown individuals shot at the car from an automobile moving in the same direction near Arkhipovka populated area (the Smolensk Region).
General Dementyev and the driver of the car died from the wounds on the scene of the incident, and the passenger was taken to a medical establishment of the Smolensk Region with heavy injuries, Colonel Drobyshevsky said.
