RUSSIAN DJS TO GIVE UP AMORAL MUSIC

MOSCOW, Nov 1 (RIA Novosti) - A resolution of the local government "On conducting leisure mass cultural youth events" has become valid recently in the Belgorod region (Russia's southwestern part). This original document regulates the activity of local discotheques (about 400).

The resolution orders to exclude "amoral music pieces" from the clubs' repertoire. DJs will from now on have to undergo special training with regional administrations. Besides, the presenters of night music programs will have to have a special higher or secondary education. If a DJ knows Russia's history and legislation, the theory of music and dancing art well, it is welcome.

The number of persons who are at a discotheque will also be regulated. There must be no more than 2 people at 1 square meter of the dancing ground. The sound's loudness should be no more than 90-120 decibels.

"It is a very unpleasant resolution," said the head of a night club in Belgorod. "What we don't like most is that there should be no more than 2 people at 1 square meter and that we have to check passports on entrance to prevent minors from entering. It incurs losses: you can't let in many people and additional security men should be employed. As for music repertoire, we don't know yet how it will be regulated."

The Belgorod region has started considering this problem long ago. This summer, an Association of professional presenters of youth disco programs was created. The organization aims to increase DJs' skills. The Belgorod state center of folk art has worked out a number of methodical aids on conducting discotheques.
