SARATOV, Nov 5 (RIA Novosti's Erik Batuyev) - The second power unit of the Balakovo nuclear power plant will be started again on Friday at 10 p.m. Moscow time, Pavel Ipatov, the director of Rosenergoatom concern affiliate Balakovo NPP, informed Saratov region governor Dmitry Ayatskov, said the governor's press service.
In particular, Mr. Ipatov confirmed that the power unit's operation had been suspended due to a failure at a pipeline of steam generator power supply.
In his words, "the situation is under permanent control of IAEA and Gosatomnadzor inspectors. The failure caused no damage to the environment. There were no leakages of steam and water outside the technological system. Natural radiation background on the plant's territory and on the unit's premises is unchanged."
