Sources in Bishkek close to the President informed that Askar Akayev would celebrate his birthday with the family - children, grandchildren, wife and closest friends. In contrast with eastern tradition, Kyrgyzstan will not organize large-scale public festivities dedicated to president's birthday.
The day after his birthday Mr. Akayev will head to Moscow and later will visit St. Petersburg - the city he calls his second home.
It was in Leningrad where Mr. Akayev, who lived in the city for 20 years, made a career as a scientist. There at a student's ball, he also met his future wife Mayram to whom he has been married for 34 years.
In St. Petersburg, the current Kyrgyz President will meet with his former teachers, colleagues and friends.
