MOSCOW, November 13 (RIA Novosti) -A ceremony to open a memorial plaque at 7 Nikolskaya street took place in Moscow today to mark the 70th anniversary of the national sound TV broadcasting. According to a press release issued by the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications, it was from this address that the first TV sound program was broadcasted in 1934. At present, the building at 7 Nikolskaya street houses the engineering complex of the Russian National TV and Radio Network.

The opening ceremony was attended by the head of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications Mikhail Seslavinsky. He spoke highly of the significance of the date and emphasized the dedication of all those working in the telecasting industry - cameramen, correspondents, directors and technicians, - the people whose efforts make it sure that the TV signal reaches the audience.

"It is difficult to forecast what television is going to be like in 70 years from now. People have grown used to the ongoing technological progress, they no longer marvel at technical innovations. Each innovation however results from hard work of hundreds of thousands people," the head of the Federal Agency pointed out.

Mikhail Seslavinsky warmly greeted and thanked the Russian TV veterans present at the ceremony.

Also in attendance at the ceremony were many prominent figures of the Russian television as well as descendants of those who 70 years ago had made broadcasting of the first TV program possible.
