The gallery's director, Natalia Ryurikova, said such large Russian museums as the Russian State Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Pushkin Museum, the State Smolensk Museum, the Yekaterinburg Fine Arts Museum, the Tver Regional Gallery and others are taking part in the project.
Visitors will have a chance to see both Serov's well-known masterpieces and his lesser-known pieces from regional museums (some of which will be shown for the first time).
"The purpose of the exhibit is to attract Muscovites and visitors to the Russian capital's attention to Serov's fine art," Ms. Ryurikova said.
The main purpose of the project is to satisfy the public's growing interest in Russian fine art. At the same time, the exhibit will be a kind cultural act to support regional museums that do not have a chance to show their collections in other cities because of their poor financial situations.
