LONDON, November 20 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Army's Alexandrov Song and Dance Company will take part in the `Russian Winter` festival to be held in London's Trafalgar Square in January 2005, the festival's organizer and head of the Russian-British Culture Association, Sergei Kolushev, told RIA Novosti.

"The renowned Russian Army's Alexandrov Song and Dance Company has confirmed its participation in its full strength of 125 performers. We are proud that the festival's program would feature performances by the Company's leading artists," he pointed out.

"The Alexandrov Song and Dance Company is to appear in the UK for the first time since 1962," added Sergei Kolushev.

The Company's performance in Trafalgar Square will be dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII. "Trafalgar Square will hear the Russian artists sing wartime songs, both Russian and English," the festival's organizer said. According to him, Russian and British war veterans have been invited to the festival as guests of honor.

The `Russian Winter` festival is to be held in London on January 14-15, 2005. The event is organized jointly by the Russian-British Culture Association and the Russian News and Information Agency Novosti, with participation of the Moscow and London City Halls and the Russian Ministry of Culture.

An open skating rink is going to be set up in the British capital's central square, with not only professional performers but also the general public having a chance for their share of skating fun. A special stage in the Square will feature diverse shows presented by Russian artists, with circus performers displaying their skills right amongst the spectators. The Children's Corner will entertain its young guests with a variety of amusing shows and attractions.

In addition, Trafalgar Square will feature a display of ice sculptures, with a colorful show of Russian winter sights starting in the evening. The festival's guests will also have a chance of tasting traditional dishes of the Russian cuisine. Moreover, the event's program plans a direct satellite communication session with Red Square in Moscow.
