RUSSIA'S SAFIN REACHES SEMI-FINALS OF TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP IN HOUSTON

MOSCOW, November 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Marat Safin reached the semi-finals of the Masters Cup Year-End Championship in Houston, TX with the prize-winning money of $3,700,000.

On Friday in the course of the last match in the blue group 24-year-old Marat Safin defeated 30-year-old British Tim Henman 6:2, 7:6 (7:2). The match lasted for one hour and 40 minutes.

The match decided the final athlete to perform in semi-finals in Houston. The quartet of tennis players include Swiss Roger Federer, Australian Lleyton Hewitt (both from the red group) and American Andy Roddick (the blue group).

The semi-finals pairs look as follows - Andy Roddick will meet with Lleyton Hewitt and Marat Safin with Roger Federer.

The decisive matches will be held on Saturday, November 20, starting at 21.30 (Moscow time) with the Roddick-Hewitt game and followed by the Safin-Federer game.
