The "Driver" stars - Alena Babenko and Bohdan Stupka-came out Best Actress and Best Actor. Stupka, one of Ukraine's foremost actors, won another Honfleur award for "Of Our Own Kind" film by Dmitri Meskhiev.
The jury was unanimous about Grand Prix, said Regis Varnier, celebrated French film director, playwright and actor, and jury president. "What Pavel has made is not merely a good movie - it is a great film, top-notch in every respect."
Marina Razbezhkina, with "Harvest Time", won the Lower Normandy Award for promising directors' honourable debut in France.
Tofik Shakhverdiev, with "About Love", received the Odyssey television award for the best documentary.
"Frankenstein My Stepbrother" brought eminent Valeri Todorovsky the Francois Chalet Award for humanism and promotion of universal human values.
Filippe de Brocat, prominent in the French film world, died during the Honfleur festival. He had been on the festival Honour Committee, and its jury president many times. Producer May Cheng Chalet, honoured jury president and Francois Chalet Award founder, called the contestants and guests to commemorate him.
The award gala was not the festival end - shows are on into late this night.
