KIEV, November 30 (RIA Novosti) - The Ukrainian Supreme Rada (parliament) has rejected the draft statement of Viktor Yushchenko's supporters demanding to dismiss the government and Prosecutor General.

Most MPs voted for an alternative project offering other ways of the crisis settlement, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

The draft statement by Mr. Yushchenko's supporters failed to win the majority because Communists and Socialists gave up the idea to dismiss the government.

As a result, 232 MPs voted for the alternative project (with the 226-vote threshold).

Mr. Yushchenko's supporters demanded that the Rada speaker cancel the results of the voting.

"Is this democracy when the minority makes us vote as they need threatening that we shall be torn to pieces when we get out of here," one of the MPs exclaimed.

Viktor Yushchenko's team called on their supporters to leave the Supreme Rada premises and join the rally on the square.

The extraordinary parliamentary session took a recess.
