The conference will focus on methods of teaching of Russian as foreign language, the development of modern literature, theory and practice of translation and interaction of cultures. Russian language experts from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are invited to the conference.
The Russian delegation will be headed by rector of Pushkin State Russian Language Institute Yuri Prokhorov.
"Indians are, undoubtedly, interested in the Russian language and literature. Many professors and doctors were trained in the former Soviet Union and are writing books on Russian and participate in conferences," Mr. Prokhorov said in a RIA Novosti interview. "Indian students are trained in our university. They study Russian for a year and then enter Moscow medical institutes," he noted.
The Russian delegation comprises deans of faculties, heads of departments and leading specialists of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russian University of People's Friendship, Moscow State Linguistic University, Gertsen Russian State Teachers' Training University (St. Petersburg) and Kuban State University.
"This conference continues the tradition of research conferences held on the basis of Russian centers of science and culture in India. It is aimed to increase the interest in the Russian language and culture, support and develop the Russian language studies in India and other countries of the region," said a representative of the Russian Foreign center.
