LEONID KUCHMA AGAINST RUN-OFF REPETITION

KIEV, December 1 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma spoke against repeating the run-off at Wednesday's consultation on the country's economic situation in his residence in Koncha Zaspa, near Kiev.

Ukraine's Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich has the same opinion, Mr. Kuchma said.

"I said earlier and I say now that it is necessary to hold a new presidential election," the President pointed out.

"Repeating the run-off is a farce, and I will never back an anti-constitutional idea," the head of state stated.

Ukraine's Supreme Court has turned down Viktor Yanukovich's motion to leave the claim by Viktor Yushchenko's supporters challenging the run-off without consideration.

The decision was unanimous.

Deputy Presiding Judge Anatoly Yarema specified that the motion was denied because "the election process had not been accomplished."
