NEW DELHI, December 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russia has proposed India's taking part in the joint venture to develop a light plane on the Il-214 basis, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov told reporters in New Delhi. He is now on an official visit in the Indian capital.

"We have proposed a new advanced project for building a joint light plane on the Il-214 basis. An answer is forthcoming", he said.

Both India and Russia want a light transport plane and India's consent is therefore expected, Sergei Ivanov said.

India also shows interest in Yak-130 aircraft, he added.

"They have shown interest. They know we've adopted the Yak-130 for service", he said. Several of them may be supplied to India in the future, Sergei Ivanov concluded.

As regards the use of this type of aircraft in the Russian armed forces, their number will only increase, the Russian foreign minister said.

"It is a mobile and comfortable machine. The cabin is versatile: after it a pilot can fly virtually any warplane", Sergei Ivanov said.

He noted that Russian budget for the next year provides for buying Yak-130 planes for domestic use.
