MOSCOW, December 2 (RIA Novosti) - Sergei Lavrov, Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, invited Surakiat Satienthai, his Thai counterpart, to visit Russia next year. The information appeared on the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website today as its press and information department was summing up Mr. Lavrov's sojourn in Thailand in a statement.

Sergei Lavrov spent December 1-2 in Thailand on an official visit. He met at the negotiation table with the host country's Prime Minister Thaksin Chinnawat and Foreign Minister Surakiat Satienthai.

"The contacts allowed a highly informative and practice-oriented opinion exchange on the entire range of bilateral relations at present, and on prospects for their progress. The Parties regarded the issues in the context of bilateral efforts to implement understandings made during a state visit to Thailand by Russia's President Vladimir Putin, October 2003," say ministerial PR.

Dominating the agenda was the international anti-terror cause. The negotiators agreed on practical action to step up the bilateral anti-terror alliance.

"The ministers said they were satisfied to see the two countries sharing stances on a majority of global and regional problems. They highlighted the necessity for further team efforts in the United Nations and other multilateral structures. Joint measures were blueprinted to step up the Russia-ASEAN dialogue, with an account for Russia joining the Treaty on Peace and Cooperation in Southeast Asia," says the ministerial statement.
