KRASNOYARSK, Dec 4 (RIA Novosti) - Approximately in a year's time, a number of existing restrictions on receiving navigation satellite information for civil users will be lifted.

This was said in a RIA Novosti interview by head of the design department of the Reshetnev scientific and production association Viktor Kosenko during the Siberian international airspace show SAKS-2004 underway in Krasnoyarsk.

"A government resolution is being drafted now, where the existing restrictions are planned to be adjusted," he said.

In Mr. Kosenko's words, as of today, a law is valid in Russia, in line with which the accuracy of navigation definitions closer than 30 meters for civil users is classified.

"Today certain work is underway jointly with the Russian Federation's Defense Ministry aimed at lifting these restrictions, as there are no such restrictions in any country," specified Mr. Kosenko.

He noted that talks on the degree of accuracy of data received from the American navigation system GPS and the Russian Glonass system are on the homestretch.

"The sides agreed which events are to be held, a number of demands were voiced, and almost all of them were observed, so I believe in a year, all questions will be answered," said Mr. Kosenko.

Earlier Roskosmos head Anatoly Perminov told RIA Novosti that in the future, it would be allowed to identify the coordinates in an area with the use of navigation satellites with an accuracy up to 1 meter.

The Russian satellite group Glonass has 11 spacecraft. Before 2007, with the help of India, Roskosmos intends to increase it to 18 satellites, which will make it possible to receive navigation data practically in any part of the globe.
