MOSCOW, December 10 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov believes that it it's necessary to make everything possible so that the North Korean nuclear program would be limited by the peaceful frames and the regime of non-proliferation.
Russia is seriously concerned with the current situation on the Korean peninsula, the Russian Defense Minister said at the meeting with foreign military diplomats.
"We believe that the North Korean decision to withdraw from the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty can considerably weaken the efforts of the world society aimed at the non-proliferation of the weapons of mass destruction," the Minister said.
According to him, the position of the Russian military and political authorities in regard to the North Korean nuclear issue is that the Korean peninsula should be nuclear free.
The minister also made no comments on the question of one of the military attaches whether the DPRK has nuclear weapons.
