MOSCOW, December 10 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Prosecutor-General's Office, referring to participants in the YUKOS case as "dirty thieves" denies Friday on its Internet site any accusations of total crack-down on the company's executives, managers and employees.

This report was made in response to some media publications of the YUKOS oil company's statement about a sweeping hunt for its personnel.

"The Russian Prosecutor-General's Office acts in compliance with law. The so-called YUKOS case is no exception. There is enough proof to say that the participants in this case are no other but dirty thieves," says the report.

"The brazen plunder of billions of roubles and US dollars has amazed even experienced prosecutors and investigators. The value of the stolen money, property and outstanding taxes is counted in astronomical figures," goes on the report.

At the same time, says the report, a rare case has been ever under such vigil and control of judicial authorities. YUKOS is certain to appeal against every move connected with the company's cases, including arrests, searches and other investigation procedures. But all the activities of the prosecutor-general's office have been recognized valid by the court.

"The main participants are in the dock. There is evidence that both the YUKOS executives and managers were accessories to criminal activities. By the way, the rank-and-file are not involved."

The report says that the law was infringed on for a long time and in a most cynical manner. It is time to reap as one has sown.
