The first competition, held in Yekaterinburg in 2003, gathered over 200 architecture and design figures from Russian cities, as well as South Korea, Germany, France, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
120 of the 144 works submitted have been allowed to participate. It is the biggest professional competition ever hosted in Yekaterinburg. Among winners of the Eurasian Prize are foremost architects and designers from Yekaterinburg.
The decision was taken in 2004 to elevate the competition to the international level and include in its program out-of-competition programs, seminars, master classes, lectures for professional public and public-at-large.
Within the Eurasian Prize international contests will be held - Architecture and Urban Development (December 2004-June 2005), Environmental Design (December 2004-June 2005).
The festival gets support from the Russian Designers' Union, the Ural Federal District's Support and Investment Fund, Moscow International Design School, French Alliance.
