At the first stage, on results of the competition 5 of the 14 regions were selected, including St.Petersburg and the Tomsk region (Western Siberia). They will open resource centers for representatives of the administrations of federation entities, regional colleges and universities, chambers of commerce and industry, large enterprises of regional importance.
The ten-year presidential program began in 1997, Mr. Sharonov recalled. After the term expires, its funding from the federal budget will end and the regional resource centers will arrange and finance the training of a managerial cadre.
Mr. Sharonov called the presidential program "a typical example of private-state partnership."
"Aware of only business being able to double the GDP, the state undertakes the training of managers," Mr. Sharonov said.
Since the presidential program got under way, about 30,000 specialists have been trained. About 8,000 young managers have been on business trips in countries of the European Union, the United States, Canada and others.
