MOSCOW, December 17 (RIA Novosti's Mikhail Smirnov) - Boxer Denis Inkin of Russia has knocked out Croat opponent Branko Sobot in his final fight before setting off to Germany. The fight took place in Moscow Thursday, as part of the Elite Boxing of Russia international tournament.

Inkin, 26, last year's IBF (International Boxing Federation) intercontinental champion in the weight category of under 76.2 kilograms, won the fight against Sobot in the second round, when his opponent gave up resistance.

Speaking to reporters after the fight, Inkin said this was his final competition before departure to Germany. The Russian boxer is leaving in high spirits and with an excellent track record (he has 21 wins behind his belt, including 16 wins through knockout).

In the first round already, the Croat athlete found himself in a knockdown three times. He hoped to turn the fight in his favor in the second round, but gave up after suffering a series of focused blows from his opponent. But even with Sobot obviously not in his best shape, the match proved not so easy to win for Inkin as he had thought it would be. "I was calm before the fight and I got myself in the right mood for this battle, trying not to bring the work to an ending, where things could turn out in an unpredictable way," the Russian boxer said.

Inkin has signed a three-year contract with Klaus Peter Kohl, a German promoter, famous for his work with the Klichko brothers. "In all probability, I will leave for Germany in early March, and will be based in Hamburg. That's where the Universum club, for which I will now be fighting, is headquartered," he announced. Coach Vladimir Tsyganov, who will continue working with Inkin in Germany, told RIA that in three years' time, the parties will be able to extend the contract for another term if they want to.

"I believe that moving to Germany will make it possible for me to fulfill myself on the professional rink to a greater extent," said the Russian boxer. "[I will have a chance to face potent opponents, and championships for various titles will then be round the corner before long," he told RIA Novosti. Because of his many knockout wins, he has been dubbed "killer" by the manager to one of his rivals.
