RUSSIAN MUSIC SOCIETY TO GIVE SOIREE IN ST. PETERSBURG'S OUTSKIRTS

ST. PETERSBURG, December 18 (RIA Novosti - North-west, Dina Danilova) - The Russian Music Society will give a soiree to mark its 145th anniversary in the Constantine Palace in Strelnya in St. Petersburg's outskirts) on Saturday.

Culture figures, businessmen, politicians and diplomats were invited to the soiree, said the press service of the State Palace of Congresses.

The program of the event includes a concert of the State Academic Chamber Vivaldi Orchestra conducted by People's Artiste of Russia Svetlana Bezrodnaya. Opuses by great Russian composers and members of the Romanov royal family will be performed.

Moreover, a charity fair of jewelry and stonework by St. Petersburg's best craftsmen will be held to support young talents studying at the music school of the St. Petersburg conservatory which was founded on the initiative of the Russian Music Society.

The society's anniversary is marked in the Constantine Palace because before the 1917 revolution the Russian Music Society was headed by its former owners, Grand Prince Konstantin Nikolayevich Romanov, his wife Alexandra Iosifovna and their son Konstantin Konstantinovich.

The Russian Music Society founded in 1859 has made a great contribution to the development of musical culture. It has helped Russian musicians and composers, built new educational establishments and held charity concerts.
