As Mr. Chornovil acknowledges, he has only oblique evidence to bear out his opinion. He came to his alarming conclusion while taking stock of legal decisions that followed the controversial runoff. "As I see it, everything is done now for [Viktor] Yuschenko to win-only next to challenge his victory. The nation will be sent into a confrontation, fifteen million against another fifteen. Someone will aptly recall next that Ukraine has another President-the incumbent, and international organizations will turn to [Leonid] Kuchma, imploring him to get the country into order and start a third term." That is how Viktor Yanukovich's chief promoter sees the prospects.
