KIEV, December 22 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine is going to the polls on Sunday to revote its notorious presidential runoff. The re-election has ample chances to be invalidated, judging by current developments, warns Taras Chornovil, Viktor Yanukovich's pre-election HQ chief. His apprehensions reached the Novosti-Ukraine news agency from the HQ press service.

As Mr. Chornovil acknowledges, he has only oblique evidence to bear out his opinion. He came to his alarming conclusion while taking stock of legal decisions that followed the controversial runoff. Of these, the chief of staff lays special stress on the Supreme Court verdict to invalidate the poll. "It makes a precedent to stage revotes one after another, with no end of them," he remarked.

"As I see it, everything is done now for [Viktor] Yuschenko to win-only next to challenge his victory. The nation will be sent into a confrontation, fifteen million against another fifteen. Someone will aptly recall next that Ukraine has another President-the incumbent, and international organizations will turn to [Leonid] Kuchma, imploring him to get the country into order and start a third term." That is how Viktor Yanukovich's chief promoter sees the prospects.
