STAVROPOL, February 5 (RIA Novosti's Valeri Oliyanchuk) - A bell from Archangel Michael's Church in Grozny has been delivered to Stavropol, territorial center in European Russia's south, which borders on the North Caucasus.

The bell was placed close to St. Andrew's Cathedral. Cast in Voronezh, 1990, the bell was damaged beyond repair in 1995-96, diocesan PR said to Novosti.

"This bell was witness to tragedies, and we are to preserve it as memory token. Grozny cannot do so. Archangel Michael's Church repairs have started, and the works may damage the relic even worse. That was why we determined to move the bell to Stavropol, and preserve it in the cathedral yard," Theophanes the Bishop of Stavropol and Vladikavkaz said to a news conference upon return from a trip to Chechnya.

North Caucasian Christian and Muslim youth activists are planning a forum within the year to build up mutual understanding, added the bishop.
