MOSCOW, February 8 (RIA Novosti) - There are many indications of the fact that Tbilisi has not yet renounced the use of force for solving the South Ossetian problem, to say the least. Moreover, Tbilisi might decide to destabilize the situation around South Ossetia this spring. This was disclosed by Andrei Kokoshin, chairman of the Russian State Duma's committee for CIS and compatriots' affairs.

The State Duma reacted with understanding to US State Secretary Condoleezza Rice's statement concerning the results of her talks with Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Mr. Kokoshin went on to say. According to Dr. Rice, all Georgian conflicts must be settled in line with political methods and the concerned parties must not resort to force.

Dr. Rice and Mr. Ivanov negotiated on February 5 in Ankara, confirming their identical positions as regards the settlement of conflicts on Georgian territory.

Sergei Lavrov informed Condoleezza Rice about the Russian-Georgian dialogue on some issues, as well as Russia's efforts to deblock conflicts in South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
