MOSCOW'S VIRTUOSOS TO PERFORM IN LONDON

LONDON, February 2 (RIA Novosti's Alexander Smotrov) - The world famous orchestra Moscow's Virtuosos conducted by Vladimir Spivakov will give a concert in the banquet hall of Whitehall Palace in London as part of the Victory international cultural marathon, the press service of the Russian Embassy in Great Britain told RIA Novosti.

Conductor and leading violinist Vladimir Spivakov and British soloist Alex Prier will participate in the concert.

First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Alan West and his wife, and WWII veteran, Hero of the Soviet Union Admiral Vladimir Chernavin were invited to the concert as guests of honor.

The Victory international cultural marathon is running in many countries and is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the victory in World War II. It is organized by the Unity international charity cultural foundation, the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russian Foreign Center. The festive events will be held in London, Paris, Rome, Tel Aviv, Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russian cities. All concerts are charity events.

World famous artists, musicians and dancers are taking part in the marathon. "The marathon is likely to be a major event in the political, public and cultural life of hundreds of thousands of our compatriots, veterans of the front and resistance," the Russian embassy noted.
