The FBI investigators and the investigation department of the Prosecutor General's Office will probe jointly into the death of Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania early on February 3.
In addition, the FBI team will assist Georgian investigators in probing into the February 1 terrorist attack in the town of Gory, where an explosion set off by the Shida Kartli regional police department killed three policemen and wounded 27 others.
FBI investigators will also conduct chemical, biological and histological analyses of Mr. Zhvania's blood samples, expecting results in a few weeks. The U.S. embassy spokesperson stressed that the U.S. saw no link between Mr. Zhvania's death and the terrorist attack in Gory.
U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Richard Miles and Georgian National Security Council Secretary Gela Bezhuashvili met Tuesday morning. According to unofficial reports from Georgia's State Chancellery, future cooperation with the FBI was discussed during the meeting.
