MOSCOW, February 10 (RIA Novosti) - In a letter sent this Thursday to International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge, Russian Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov says that he is pinning hopes on a solution favourable for Moscow that is by all means worthy of becoming the venue of 2012 Olympic Games.

Addressing Jacques Rogge, Gryzlov notes that Duma deputies are ready to render all possible assistance in arrangements for and holding of 2012 Olympic Games in Moscow. He also stressed the point that the Moscow Olympic venue application was supported by both the federal bodies of authority and local self-governments.

Moscow has become experienced in staging competitions of the highest world standards, such as the 1980 Olympic games, the world youth games, international Kremlin Cup tennis tournaments, Goodwill games, championships in various sports and games, said Gryzlov.

In his letter, he draws attention to the fact that the sports public and foreign guests praise the high organizational standards and traditional Russian hospitality at such competitions.

Gryzlov also informs the IOC president of Moscow's multi-year experience that has brought about a unique concept of 2012 Games, entitled "Olympic River", with its maximum benefiting by the available sports facilities meeting the requirements of international sports federations. There are already 70 percent of such facilities, which is essential for minimizing expenses on the holding of the Olympics.

"Still, the main distinction of the Moscow application is that all events, including a preliminary football tournament and sailing regatta are expected to be held on the Moscow premises," said Gryzlov.
