"We have traced more than 40 instances of his voting contrary to the faction's position on crucial bills, including "On the state civil service in the Russian Federation", on the ratification of the Kyoto protocol, "On general principles of the organization of local self-government", "On the federal budget for 2005", "On sessions, rallies, processions and pickets", said Demin.
"Gartung has virtually lost any contact with the faction after stopping to make his appearance at our sessions from last spring," he added.
For its turn, the central council of the Russian Pensioners' Party headed by Gartung recommended its leader last Thursday that he quit the faction United Russia.
"The policy being pursued by United Russia party members as they are adopting anti-popular laws to the detriment of people's living standards makes it impossible to cooperate with them," says the party's press-release.
