On midnight to 3:00 hours, the snowfall will subside and the amount of precipitation will be one to two centimeters; after 3:00 hours snow-drifts will become 0.5 centimeter higher, RIA Novosti was told at the municipal economy authority.
After that, snowfall will stop to resume on Tuesday afternoon and will end at 18:00, Moscow time. Snow will be mixed with rain and snow-drifts will increase by 4 cm at the maximum.
Up to 14,000 snow-clearing machines will be engaged at night, the authority said. Round-the-clock duty shifts will be arranged in every prefecture, by all enterprises and services.
In the morning, Moszelenkhoz (Moscow's park authority) will begin to clear snow from parks. Mosvodostok (municipal sewage authority) will begin to clear water intakes for the expected snow-rain mixture may cause inundation in the streets.
According to Mosvodokanal (city channels authority), 11.240 million cubic meters of snow has been utilized by snow-melting centers, which is 1 million cubic meters more than in the same period last year.
In the figures of the Moscow traffic inspection, since midnight till 17:00 on Monday 872 minor road accidents were registered in Moscow. Simultaneously, the number of cars appearing in the city on Monday is 20 per cent less than the average on weekdays.
It is the lesson of the past snowfalls, traffic inspectors say. Warned by them and weather forecasters, many motorists have used public transport.
