MOSCOW, February 15 (RIA Novosti) - Chairman of the State Duma international committee Konstantin Kosachev believes that the acknowledgement that contradictions of the sides do not hamper cooperation development would be an ideal result of the forthcoming Russian-US summit in Bratislava.
"The statement that the contradictions of the sides on a number of issues do not hamper our effective cooperation in the spheres of mutual interest would be the ideal result," Mr. Kosachev told RIA Novosti.
According to him, the summit will be held against a difficult background. "The two countries have certain misunderstandings and problems which need additional discussion," Mr. Kosachev noted.
In his opinion, global and nuclear security, the fight against international terrorism and arms trade will be key issues on the summit's agenda.
The presidents will also discuss settlement of regional conflicts in the Middle East, Iraq and on the post-Soviet space, the MP added.
