BERLIN, February 16 (RIA Novosti's Taras Lariokhin) - German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer and his Iranian counterpart Kamal Kharazi expressed "careful optimism" about the settlement of the Tehran nuclear problem.

According to Mr. Kharazi, the talks in Germany, the United Kingdom and France were highly important.

"We shall continue them to achieve good results," the Iranian minister noted. He expects certain progress to be achieved by the next session of the working groups in mid-March.

In his words, there are possibilities to reasons fears of the Iran's work on A-bomb away but bilateral efforts are needed.

Iran has proved the European Union that it strives for cooperation and mutual understanding and expects the same from Europe, Kamal Kharazi stressed.

On his part, Joschka Fischer emphasized that both sides are interested in the solution of this problem. However, we need objective guarantees that the Iranian nuclear program has only peaceful purposes, the German minister said.

"I believe joint efforts by all participants [in the negotiations] will lead to progress,' Mr. Fischer noted.

According to him, the talks focused, in particular, on the observation of human rights in Iran. In this sphere the German government seems regress rather than progress, the German Foreign Minister said.

His Iranian counterpart said that Iran and the West have different positions on the observation of human rights, however, the talks in this sphere will continue.
