Russia will host the event under Roskosmos' auspices for the first time. The Beslan exhibition will involve the Energia space-rocket corporation, the Zvezda science and production enterprise and the Lavochkin NPO, an agency spokesperson added.
Top managers of the Lavochkin NPO proposed the exhibition, which will feature life-size spacecraft models, including that of the Luna-24 lunar roving vehicle, the Soyuz descent module, the small Mars-96 inter-planetary probe and penetrator replete with inflatable soft-landing systems and space suits. Models of the Granat, Astron, Phobos and other spacecraft will also be on display.
The upcoming exhibition is mostly intended for students, but organizers note that adults will also enjoy the experience. Children will be allowed to control the lunar roving vehicle with the help of a console, using a manipulator to "scoop up" lunar rock. They will be able to watch a planetary roving vehicle in action at a special site, collecting Martian rock. They can also fly a simulated space mission inside the descent module, said the head of Roskosmos, Anatoly Perminov.
The Lavochkin NPO is a leading Russian enterprise responsible for developing and operating unmanned space probes, as well as other spacecraft types.
