HUNGARY STRIVES FOR DEVELOPMENT OF RELATIONS WITH RUSSIA

MOSCOW, February 17 (RIA Novosti) - Hungary is not going to isolate itself within the EU framework and will strive for the development of relations with Russia, Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany told journalists after a meeting with Russian Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov.

Both Russia and Hungary are interested in strategic partnership, he said.

According to Mr. Gyurcsany, Hungary respects Russia and is grateful to it for the liberation of Hungary from Nazism 60 years ago.

The Hungarian premier highly assessed the level of recent bilateral political contacts and pointed out the growth of economic relations' efficiency.

On his part, Sergei Mironov said that the presentation of the Hungarian Republic would take place at the 9th economic forum in St. Petersburg in June 2005. Seasons of Hungarian culture in Russia and Russian culture in Hungary are also scheduled for 2005.
