"The principal way of solving this problem is by promoting coordination of efforts between the two border services, rather than attempting to reanimate ineffective international monitoring," it was noted at the ministry.
Russia is a full-time participant of processes concerned with settlement of the Georgian-Abkhazian and Georgian-South Ossetian conflicts, it was recalled at the ministry.
Moscow is convinced that "there is no sensible alternative to a peaceful method of resolving these problems and involving existing mechanisms".
"Obviously a phased approach meets the interests of settlement, with priority given to confidence-building measures between the sides, including more active economic rehabilitation in the conflict zones," it was stressed at the Foreign Ministry.
