MOSCOW, February 18 (RIA Novosti) - The newspaper Vedomosti said on Friday, referring to an unnamed source, that former Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov may possibly engage in consulting business.

However, his entourage does not comment on the information that he plans to open a consulting company.

"I cannot confirm or refute this information," press secretary of the former Prime Minister Tatyana Razbash told RIA Novosti. "Very soon, Mikhail Mikhailovich will meet with reporters and will tell them about his new work."

Mr. Kasyanov headed the Russian government from spring 2000 and was removed from office at the end of the first presidential term of Vladimir Putin.

After resignation, the premier did not remain in civil service. Not long ago his intention to open a consulting company became known, the newspaper Vedomosti said on Friday.

"A businessman, a good acquaintance of Mikhail Kasyanov, has confirmed that the opening of a consulting company will be announced in February-March. According to him, it will possibly also release analytical reports about the state of affairs in the economy, " the newspaper says.

In the opinion of the businessman, who knows about the new project of the former premier, the future clients of the company will be foreign corporations and banks which start their business in Russia, and big Russian companies and regions which need to settle their debt problems and attract investments.

"Mr. Kasyanov is a well-known specialist in debts: in 1999, not yet a prime minister, he made arrangements about converting Russia's debts to the London club of commercial creditors into Eurobonds," the newspaper reminded its readers.
