INDIA CONTINUES TALKS ON PURCHASE OF YUGANSKNEFTEGAZ SHARES

ASTANA/MOSCOW, February 18 (RIA Novosti) - "Russian-Indian talks are still under way and we do not see their conclusion in the near future," Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Mani Shankar Aiyar stated at a briefing in Astana.

"I plan to visit Moscow on February 21-22 and hope to hold talks on the issue with the top management of Rosneft and Gazprom, and also with Russian Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko," he said.

At present, Yuganskneftegaz belongs to Rosneft. Mani Shankar Aiyar is currently on a working visit to Kazakhstan. He participates in the work of the fifth session of the Kazakh-Indian intergovernmental commission.

In an interview with RIA Novosti, Russian Energy Ministry officials confirmed that the meeting between Viktor Khristenko and the Indian minister was scheduled for Monday.

"The sides plan to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation in the energy sphere," Energy Minister aide Stanislav Naumov announced.
