"A decision on which candidate city will be chosen as the host of 2012 Olympics will be made in Singapore on July 6, but without awaiting for the results, we have already got down to elaborating an Olympics holding concept and constructing some facilities on the territory of Moscow," he added.
The Gallop Institute that has already polled Muscovites and Russians has received stunning results unheard of in the practice of such surveys: 91 percent of all the Moscow respondents and 89 percent of all the Russians polled favor the holding of Olympics in Moscow.
Russia's bid indicates that the Olympic budget will make $2 billion, of which 60 percent will come from the IOC and IOC sponsors and big sums will be donated by Russian and foreign sponsors: over 100 leading companies have already voiced their desire to contribute to the Olympic budget.
The vice-mayor reports that a new Olympic Village will be built on the banks of the Moskva-River in the north-west of the city and all the events, from football to regatta, will be staged solely within the Moscow confines at a distance of not more than a 28-minute voyage along the Moskva river. All the sports facilities will be situated on the river banks, including fifteen new premises, but nevertheless it is the Luzhniki stadium seating 80,000 people and all adjacent arenas that will be the heart of the sports festivity.
All the athletes, invited visitors and journalists to cover the events will have the status of the Moscow mayor's personal guest, said Shantsev.
