COOPERATION ON BALTIC SEA SECURITY TO BE DISCUSSED IN ST. PETERSBURG

ST. PETERSBURG, February 19 (RIA Novosti - North-west, Anna Novak) - On Saturday St. Petersburg will host a roundtable on the topic "Cooperation in the security sphere in the Baltic Sea area: overcoming the logics of division of spheres of influence". It is organized by the Baltic research center and the NATO information bureau in Moscow.

Research head of the Foreign and Defense Policy Council Timofei Bordachev, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Jamie Shea, commander of the Baltic military college in Tartu (Estonia) Algis Vaseljunas and President of the Northern Research Forum Lassi Heininen will deliver reports at the roundtable, the organizing committee told RIA Novosti.

The roundtable participants will discuss cooperation of the Baltic Sea states in the security sphere, consider potential joint projects, issues of border regulations, fight against organized crime, ecological security, control over the air space, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and trust measures in the security sphere.
