MOSCOW, February 19 (RIA Novosti) - A joint command post exercise of the Russian Armed Forces in the West and the Belarussian forces has been held this week, the Russian Defense Ministry's press release reads.
"All the tasks were fulfilled excellently," the document says.
"The strategic-operational tasks set for the Russian and Belarussian forces comply with the Agreement on Joint Assurance of Regional Security signed in 1997, the Joint Defense Policy Concept of 1998 and the Russian President's order on Measures to Implement the Russian-Belarussian Joint Defense Policy Concept of 1998," the press release notes.
Russia and Belarus exercised the mechanism of taking political-military options of the use of military force within the framework of the Union State.
Virtually all bodies of the Russian Armed Forces' administration, stationed in the country's western and eastern regions, were involved in the exercise.
