Five thousand Slovak police officers and some 400 rescue squad officers will ensure security for the Russian and US presidents' meeting. The measure will also involve 400 servicemen.
Measures have been taken to provide security in districts adjourning the Danube. Armored infantry vehicles and special cars of the Alligator, Rhinoceros, Jackal and Giraffe series will be used, as well as helicopters, which will monitor the situation by means of reconnaissance cameras.
Border outposts have been fortified.
The police recommend that citizens check the validity of IDs and carry them during the summit. The authorities call on Bratislava residents to report their suspicions. Moreover, parking in security zones will be prohibited. A police officer will be on guard in each trolley in the proximity to Bratislava City.
The restrictions will be effective only during three days, from February 23 through 25. "At the same time, Bratislava will remain an open city during the summit," the Slovak Ministry of the Interior was quoted as saying.
